And the reason is that the authors don't want replies to the work of shitty art that they, nevertheless, want other to see. So, they could as well remove the deviations, if the they don't like the comments.
Deviations with blocked comments or deleted discussions are usually stamps with strong opinions. Follows a rant in the description. Dozens of users comment. The author discusses. When someone doesn't buy his/her bullshit, the author uses the block solution, despite definitely being the one who posted an opinion and started the discussion.
That is not always the case
